Knut, kuppet want invigilators paid

Teachers’ unions have asked Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi to ensure teachers who invigilated last year’s KCPE and KCSE exams are paid.

Tharaka Nithi Kuppet boss Patrick Gitonga and his Knut counterpart Albert Mutani said the pay is long overdue.

They have petitioned Kaimenyi to push the Kenya National Examination Council to pay the teachers.

Gitonga said they will advice teachers to boycott invigilating exams this year if last year’s wages are not settled.

“Kaimenyi put all head teachers under him instead of addressing such matters that affect us,” Gitonga said.

Mutani questioned why the teachers have not been paid yet the results of both exams have been released.
