Three die as crime rate hit hard

Residents of Mukothima,Tharaka South lynched a 45 year old watchman on Sunday  after he allegedly   shot and killed a youth.

Francis Mayuwi  was guarding a shop in Kwanziko market met his death after residents rained on  him with kicks and blows and later set him a blaze.

It is alleged that he had earlier shot death  John Kiongi aged 35 years old, with an arrow on his chest over unclear grounds.

Confirming the incident Tharaka Nithi police boss Johnston Ipara said the angry residents confronted Mayuwi after they accused him of killing an innocent person.

Police officers who arrived at the scene took away the body to Meru Level Five Hospital Mortuary.
Ipara condemned the the act  and warned members of the public against taking law into their own hands.
Meanwhile a family in Kaanwa is in grief after they lost two children aged 5 and 4 years old.
“I left the children with a neighbour only to receive the sad news that they had passed away”
Confirming the incident Tharaka Nithi police boss Johnston Okasida Ipara  said were discovered by  the area chief on the river banks.
” They had serious  injuries in their heads and neck a clear indication of a they were hacked a by a blunt object”

Police have already nabbed three suspects in connection with the killings.
“They are helping us with vital information that will help us conduct a good inquest into the ordeal”
