Wetangula is a fix

Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki has accused Bungoma senator  Moses Wetangula of fixing the attack ordeal and disputed ‘assassination’ claims.

Kindiki accused Wetangula of  conspiracy, seeking publicity after becoming unpopular following recent polls in Bungoma. “He is after sympathy from the ‘Wananchi’ after loosing political relevancy” Kindiki said.

Kindiki said Wetangula claims were unfounded,did not even await police investigation and conducted a press briefing.
“Such utterances were  unnecessary as they are likely to stir tension”

He supported police conclusion investigation that the vehicle hit a bill board,as the scene,vehicle did not look more of a gun attack.
He said cord should seek official spokesman, form a shadow cabinet to monitor the government instead of engaging in cheap politics.

Kindiki was speaking to the Star  yesterday in Rubate.

Mp furious over Israel, Turkey tour

Chuka Igambangombe MP Muthomi Njuki has furiously condemned Tharaka Nithi County government following a recent visit to Israel and Turkey

Njuki said the County government should have used the money for other development agendas instead of allocating huge amounts to training planning and tours.

 ” We have deplorable roads and our headquarters are in bad shape a lot need to be done in terms of development” Njuki said.

The trip is alleged to have involved 20 members from agriculture department with each spending more than one million.

Other leaders alleged to have visited Israel among them MCAs, Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki Tharaka Nithi Governor Samuel Ragwa.

The Mp suggested at least the Agriculture executive and Ragwa should have attended the trip to avoid unnecessary misuse of public funds. “The county soon will soon run out of funds if we keep on spending like this

Njuki said he received an invitation letter to attend the trip but declined. “I received a letter on Friday  but my conscious could not let me attend such a trip.” Njuki said.

 
Njuki welcomed the County development board in order to deal with such cases.

Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki has come up to defend President Uhuru Kenyatta appointments.

Kindiki who is also leader of majority in the senate,disputed claims that the county has been sidelined in the Jubilee government in the allocations.

Kindiki assured residents of Tharaka Nithi that the county will get a parastatal seat in the ongoing appointments by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to locals in Chuka Kindiki asked residents to be calm since as President Uhuru Kenyatta will follow the constitution to ensure equity. “We should give the President humble time to deliver instead of faulting the appointments”

He was optimistic the county will scope a seat in the remaining 100 seats.

Kindiki said the Jubilee government will embark on a mission to ammend bad reputation by previous regimes

Kindiki urged the leaders to stop sub tribal connotations in order to ensure move the county development agenda.

A 62 year  old man was yesterday charged with obtaining money by false pretence.

Eliphas Murungi Mputhia is alleged to have obtained 300,000 from Festus Kariuki M’Rucha by falsely pretending that he could secure him a job in Kenya Defence Forces.

Mphuthia allegedly committed the offense on  June 29 and October 22 2012 in Gakui village in Maara sub county .
 

He denied the Charges before Chuka resident magistrate Simon Ruto Rotich.

He was released on 200,000 bond with surety of similar amount.

The hearing of the case is scheduled for March 6

Four arrainged in court over 0.5 million fake currency

Two people were yesterday arraigned in Chuka law courts and charged with possession of fake currency that has been in circulating in Tharaka Nithi county.

Anacasio Gitonga Ramson Mutwiri and others not before court allegedly without lawful exercise,knowingly having  in possession of special paper and chemicals used for making currency.

They were allegedly intending to make 500 notes currency
The two were arrested by police in Kiracha village in Chuka Sub county at the home of one Antony Silas Gitonga who escaped police arrest.

Jason Mutembei and Renni Kinyua were separately charged with aiding the escape of Antony Silas Gitonga to evade punishment.
All for denied the charges before Chuka resident magistrate Simon Ruto Rotich. They were remanded in custody.

They hearing of the case is scheduled for 15 of this month.

Rogue police blamed for rising accidents in Tharaka Nithi

Tharaka Nithi Women representative Beatrice Nkatha has faulted rogue traffic officers for rising cases of accidents in the county.

Nkatha said Matatu flaunting traffic rules pass through many police barriers and are not arrested. “The drivers and conductors dish out cash and are left to go with road unworthy, overloaded vehicles” Nkatha said.

She was speaking in Chogoria hospital after visiting survivors of the accident last week where 8 people died on Meru –Chuka highway.

A series of road accidents have been witnessed in the county that has left 14 people dead and 30 injured in less than a month.

Nkatha asked immediate transfer of officers since they have been colluding with matatu.

Police in Tharaka Nithi County have recovered Sh 1 million fake currency in Mutunguni village of Meru south sub-county and arrested four suspects connected to the incident.

This occurred after interrogations of a young man who was rescued from an angry mob over allegations of robbery.

Mugendi Nderi was caught by residents in a robbery attempt and was beaten up before being rescued by police.

Nderi was rushed to Chuka general hospital and after treatment, followed police interrogation which left him exposing rest of his ‘gang’ members and the fake Kenyan money.

Confirming the Incident Tharaka Nithi County Police Commander Johnston Ipara said Mugendi assisted police with vital information leading to home of another suspect where the currency was retrieved.

“Immediate raid and search in the area yielded recovery of fake currency and chemicals used to produce fake currency” Ipara said.

Police also recovered three vehicles which they suspect have been involved in incidences of crime and robbery within Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi Counties.

“One vehicle had a bullet hole which indicates that they have been involving themselves in criminal activities and have had a confrontation with security officers and escaped narrowly,” Ipara said.

The Police boss said that they also recovered other items suspected to have been stolen among them 2 motorcycles and identity cards.

He asked members of the public to forward any information concerning the suspects to the police to help for further investigations.

Ipara is also calling on residents to report suspicious people to the police to ensure their safety.

Police arrest suspects and seize three vehicles

Police in Tharaka Nithi have arrested three suspected robbers and seized three vehicles believed to be involved in crime in Meru, Tharaka Nithi and Embu counties.

The drivers of vehicles were arrested following an operation to flash out criminal gangs in the county.

Confirming the incident Tharaka Nithi police boss Johnston Ipara said the three were arrested after police conducted night patrols.

Ipara said police found bullet holes in one of the vehicles, a notification to attend court from Matunda police station in one suspect luggage’s. “This is a clear indication that this people are criminals on transit” Ipara said.

He said suspects are assisting police with investigations before being arraigned in a court.

The police boss called upon residents to offer any information that will enable police arrest more criminals.
